Office of the Registry of Probate

      The Registry of Probate and Probate Court has jurisdiction over a variety of proceedings including wills, guardianships and conservatorships of adults and minors, name changes, adoptions and trusts.  York County Registry of Probate holds original records dating back to 1687. The York County Registry of Probate is a certified passport application acceptance facility. The Registry of Probate Staff consists of a part-time, elected Judge of Probate, a full-time, elected Register of Probate, a full-time, appointed Deputy Register of Probate and 4 full-time employees.

     The York County Registry of Probate and Probate Court goals are to continue to protect the rights of the people of York County; to serve them efficiently and effectively; and, to work cooperatively with all community resources, York County Commissioners and the York County Budget Committee in a fiscally responsible manner.
